KUBAS played at the Anthony Nolan Charity event on 1st September 2018 at the Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells to help them raise money.

We had 25 members in the group playing. We played a medley of songs including Strumming All Over The World, Delilah, Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen, Country Roads Take Me Home, Waterloo, Walk Right Back and Hi Ho Silver Lining.  The event raised a total of £1482.45. Video can be found here

This was KUBAS's 3rd Christmas Partly. We had a total of 34 members. 

A great meal in the company of great friends to round off the KUBAS 2017.

Entertainment was a range of jokes, acts included the "Hat Trick", "Sid the Hypnotised Snake" and "Comedy Water Through Act".

A 1st KUBAS birthday celebration. Thank you to all the members who have kindly supported KUBAS over the last year.

New members to KUBAS were Jill and Jan. Also Tony’s wife (I’m really sorry I forget your lovely name!). Welcome aboard and we look forward to seeing them next time.

We also had Steven Butler join us from the UTAH Ukulele Association in the USA who gave us an insight into his club.

 

Congratulations to Kumiko, Jill, Irma and Bob P who won the raffle prizes kindly donated by the members.

 

We played a variety of songs starting with Trail of the Lonesome Pine.

We played some excellent rocking songs that included Bad Moon Rising, Putting on the Agony, Folsom Prison Blues, Jolene, Ghosts Riders in the Sky, House of the Rising Sun, Hello Mary Lou, Things, Sloop John B, Johnny B. Goode etc.

 

The drum machine was used again that helped to keep the rhythm and also thank you to Pamela and Brian who played the Bass ukulele.

This was the 1st KUBAS Christmas Meal and what a great time everyone had from the feedback received.

There were 30 members that were able to attend.

The food was excellent and so was the company with smiles and laughter all around.

There was a stand up cabaret with some table hopping magic to suit.

Many thanks to all the members that made a most enjoyable evening.

Thank you to all the members that made the last “play-a-long” evening in 2015 a truly wonderful and enjoyable session.

David introduced the evening with his “Christmas Hat Tricks”.

 

We had a total of 31 members with 3 apologies from members who were unable to join us who were missed.

New members to KUBAS were Pamela and Carole. Welcome aboard and we look forward to seeing them in January.

We played a variety of songs starting with “Bring Me Sunshine” for which the evening did.

We played a total of 19 songs in total that included All My Loving, Every Breath You Take, Five Foot Two, Folsom Prison Blues, Ghost Riders in the Sky, My Old Man’s a Dustman, Johnny B. Goode, I’m a Believer, Those Were the Days, Things, Sloop John B. etc.

 

The song “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head” was tried and a drum machine helped to keep the rhythm and complemented the members playing.

 

KUBAS would like to say a “BIG THANK YOU to all the member for their support and kind comments since the society was formed in August this year.

Without the members the society would not exist. KUBAS looks forward to more fun, smiles and laughter in 2016.

 

KUBAS wishes all it's members a Merry Christmas and a strumming new year!

First meeting in the new year is Monday 4th January.

There were 23 KUBAS members that turned out at the Pembury School Christmas Fair.

This was an outside event that made the playing conditions very challenging but the members fought through the cold with smiles and success.

David gave a brief Teach-In on Strumming.  Notes will available soon on the website.

 

The Pembury School Christmas Fair is scheduled for Saturday 28:11:15. Start time has been moved forward to 12.15 p.m.

The location is outside in the courtyard. Please note that if it is raining or snowing then the gig will be cancelled.

David demonstrated his new invention, the “Percussion Vest” that included a washboard, bells and a cymbal.

2.    Tuesday 26th January : 2.00 p.m. : Tonbridge Disability Club

A new consolidated Songbook 1-2-3 has been generated that now incorporates the bonus songs including “Tunes” to make it even easier for the Tablet users!

 

There was a Teach-In session on Bar/Barre Chords that was well received.  

A Teach-In on “String Picking” will be scheduled at a future meeting.

  

A few members asked about how much KUBAS is to join?  It is absolutely FREE!

! Double Wow !

A big thank you once again to everyone for a really truly wonderful evening at the second KUBAS meeting at the Camden Arms in Pembury. 

We had a total of 23 members with 3 apologies from members who were unable to join us who were sadly missed.

 

A variety of songs were played. New songs included “All My Loving, Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You, Cigarettes Whisky & Wild Wild Women, Hotel California, Runaway, Sunny Afternoon and Tunes”.

The last of the new songs “Tunes” is a variation of the song “Things” with lyrics that have been rewritten for KUBAS.  This has been voted by the members to be the KUBAS theme song. 

  

Congratulations to Tony who was the winner of the Belgium chocolates in the free raffle.  A big thank you to Colette and Bob for donating the prize.

  

There was a request for a Teach-In on Bar/Barre chords. This has been scheduled as a 10 minute session at the next meeting.

  

KUBAS has their first booking at the Pembury Primary School Christmas Fair on Saturday 28th November.

! Wow !

Thank you for your kind support last night at the first KUBAS meeting at the Camden Arms in Pembury. 

Great positive feedback was received with everyone having fun with a strum.

There were a total of 16 members with 8 apologies from members who were unable to join us who were sadly missed.

 

A variety of songs were played, good old trusted ones with new ones thrown in for good measure to keep us on our toes or fingers!

New songs included “New York – New York”, “I’m Going to Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter”, “The Wonder of You”, “Reach”, “Swinging on a Star”, “When I’m Sixty Four” to name but a few.
